God Our Savior: The Gift of New Life
“But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us,
even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ
—by grace you have been saved.”
Life can throw at us seasons that weigh heavily on our shoulders. Circumstances can suddenly change. Relationships can be strained. Uncertainty about the future can stir up anxiety or fear, leaving us feeling discouraged and tired.
Yet, Paul speaks of a God who is merciful, loving, and gracious no matter what season we are in. God doesn’t wait for us to have it all together before He acts. He doesn’t love us because we have something to offer Him. He loved us "even when we were dead in our trespasses".
And here’s the beauty of Ephesians 2 - we are not only saved out of sin and death. We are saved into new life. Even now, as we navigate the challenges we face and the complexities of this world, God’s Spirit lives in us. His peace that surpasses all understanding steadies us when everything around us feels uncertain (Philippians 4:7). His joy can rise up instead of mourning (Isaiah 61:3). His guidance anchors us, offering hope and direction when we don’t know the way forward (Isaiah 30:21).
Salvation doesn’t mean life gets easier. Life is hard, we still live in a broken world. But we are not alone! Jesus’ grace sustains us, and in His kindness, He carries us through every season.
David reminds us in his prayer "Restore to me the joy of your salvation" (Psalm 51:12), that salvation is not simply a one-time rescue - it’s an ongoing invitation to life with God: a life of grace, peace, and unshakable hope.
ResPONDING WITH GRATITUDE
Take the time to pause and feel gratitude for all that the Lord has done and the new life that He has brought you into - allow that truth to shape every moment of your life. Make a note of where you feel the Holy Spirit offering you peace, joy, guidance, and strength that you could never manufacture on your own.
Thank you, Lord, for your rich mercy and unfailing love.
Thank you for bringing me into a life where Your presence is near every day, where I am never alone.
Restore me to the joy of Your salvation. Teach me to lean on Your grace and peace in every season.
You are the giver of life in all its fullness! Amen.
