OUR VALUES: #1 - WE ARE CONFIDENT IN LOVE

OneEleven Students and Staff (2020)

Here at OneEleven we strive to embody and live by 7 Gospel-informed values. Like in any organization, the vision gives us clarity about where we are headed and the mission tells us how we will accomplish it. The values, however, fuel our culture and environment while we are on the journey. They tell us how we will treat each other and define who we are and who we are not.

Our first value is: We are Confident in Love.

We are confident in love toward God and toward each other. The Gospel proclaims who God is, what He did for us, and what He thinks and feels about us. This is the foundation of everything we do. The more we believe in His love, the more it stirs a passion for Jesus and a passion for people.

Being confident in love means we’re not walking in fear or shame. God’s perfect love casts out every fear, and allows us to live with child-like faith, and prevailing joy.

How do we walk out this value?

First we receive the beautiful love of God. We meditate on the places in the Bible that declare our belovedness and we abide in God’s love. There is nothing we have that does not come from Him. We allow His love to wash away accusation and shame day after day.

“As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love.” John 15:9

Next we commit to walk in bold love toward each other. We ask the Holy Spirit for grace to embody the love of God in our daily interactions. We believe the best of each other and strive to walk in humility and patience. This does not mean we do not stumble or deal with difficult situations, instead it informs how we respond in the midst of failure and pressure.

“Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.” ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭13:4-7‬

What does this produce?

Being confident in love produces servant leadership. We joyfully offer God our very best! Our bold confidence makes a way for us to go to the lowest place to serve, to be wholehearted disciples who are always being discipled.

In the absence of fear we are always learning and giving ourselves wholeheartedly to our work and the development of our talent. It creates a culture of boldness in every area of work, ministry and relationships. There is freedom to be on the journey, to be growing, and the only way to fail is to not try.
